Razdrto, Slovenia – EFOS, a high tech company developing complex integrated information systems in the field of environment, animal tracking and food safety announced that it has been awarded over €1 Million grant from the EU Horizon 2020 SME Instrument programme to take the next step in the development of Trapview automated pest monitoring system.
The awarded grant is a direct recognition by EU Commission that EFOS’ Trapview automated pest monitoring system is a breakthrough innovation in agriculture. It has a great potential to influence how food is produced in a more healthy and sustainable way by utilizing integrated pest management and precision agriculture principles.
The TRAPVIEW, an innovative automated pest monitoring system includes automated data collection through electronic traps placed in the field and state-of-the-art processing of this data with the means of image recognition and data science algorithms. Users get information about the pest population based on the actual field situation with almost no manual work, making TRAPVIEW a decision support system that allows users to apply optimal crop protection against pest insects.
The grant was awarded for a 2-year project to create a dense network of fully automated traps in the Mediterranean basin, combining it with significant advances in automated pest recognition, data analysis and forecasting of pest population similar to weather forecasts. The project will also allow EFOS to further position itself as a top leading crop and pest monitoring solution in the world.
